In 2015, Georgia visited 925 thousand citizens of the Russian Federation, that is 14,2% more than in 2014

TBILISI, 4. January. /Corr. TASS Eca Мехузла/. In 2015, Georgia will be visiting the 5 897 685 foreigners, 7% more than in 2014. It reported Monday the Ministry of the interior of the country. According to the Ministry, last year in Georgia, in particular, visited 925 061 Russian, that is 14,2% more of this indicator for the year of 2014 – then the country visited 810 233 citizens of the Russian Federation. According to the results of the year 2015 Russia occupies the fourth place among the countries whose citizens most frequently come in Georgia. Russia these indicators of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Turkey.

The increase in the number of visits in Georgia are citizens of the Russian Federation, including tourists, is the result of a specific warming and normalization in the relations between the two countries in the last three years, the development of the cooperation between the two countries in the fields of trade, economy, culture and tourism. Most of the Russians were in Tbilisi, on the black sea (Batumi, Kobuleti) and (Gudauri, Bakuriani) – Resorts of the country.

The Ministry of the interior reported that of the 5 897 685 foreigners, the country in the year 2015, 2 278 562 form the tourists, that on 2,2% more than in 2014. 1 400 835 people drove in Georgia for the Transit to a third country (25,7%), 2 218 288 – from personal, professional, and in other cases (2,1%).

Altogether in the year 2015, was beaten record in the number of foreigners, due to the post-Soviet period Georgia. Until then, the highest number was reached in the year 2014. According to the experts, the increase in the number of foreign guests through a series of positive economic, political and other factors that followed, after the stabilization of the situation in Georgia after the change of power (in October 2012), increased interest of foreigners in Georgia and the implementation of its economic, cultural, sporting and other projects.
